Clevr Energy Display · Victron edition
Questions about the Victron display.
Short answers about connection modes, panels, discovery and energy history.
Do I need Home Assistant?
No for standalone live monitoring. Yes for the HA edition’s energy summaries, history and forecast sources.
Do I need a GX device?
These Victron editions read information exposed by a compatible GX system. They are not a direct cable connection to every individual charger or battery.
Does it require the cloud?
Standalone monitoring works over your local network without VRM/cloud access. The HA edition’s monitoring connections are local; optional forecast providers may use online services.
What is the difference between the two sizes?
The four-inch screen is square, 480×480. The five-inch screen is landscape, 800×480. Each needs its own firmware, even when both use the same HA integration.
Can I use both sizes with the same Home Assistant installation?
Yes, with matching firmware and unique panel device names. They can use the same Clevr integration and site data.
Do I need to configure sensors on the website?
No. The Home Assistant integration detects sensors automatically. Choose your panel size and download its firmware from your account after purchasing the chosen integration.
Must my system have Fronius or three phases?
The HA discovery path is not restricted to Fronius or three phases. It reviews supported GX devices and phase domains. Other systems still need compatibility checks, particularly with the current standalone preview’s presentation.
Can I have several MPPTs or AC PV inverters?
Supported sources can be discovered and aggregated. Confirm that all expected devices are online and included in the reviewed inventory; not every device exposes identical measurements.
Does the panel store history?
No. The HA edition displays records held in Home Assistant. Standalone provides live readings and saves connection preferences, without recording energy history.
Will history continue while the panel is off?
Yes if HA and its energy sources remain active and recorded. Turning off the panel alone does not stop those HA records.
Can I switch modes later?
Install the matching firmware and follow that mode’s prerequisites. Switching is not currently presented as an in-panel toggle or an automatic conversion.
Can the standalone panel change inverter settings?
The documented standalone implementation uses read requests. It is a monitoring display, not an inverter-control interface.
Is this an official Victron product?
No. Clevr Energy Display is an independent project for supported Victron GX systems.
